Volunteering means working and committing for a social purpose without financial remuneration or expectation of being financially remunerated. It is also not an internship in which you can get employed after finishing the period of engagement. 

If your work and delivered results is outstanding, we would be happy to give you a reference, but this is also not mandatory. You will learn a lot if you delivered the commited hours.
